The Richmond Hill Women’s Networking Association

Approximately two and a half years ago I was feeling a little isolated and disconnected from my neighbours.  I thought about moving to a small town where everyone knew eachother.  On further thought I realized I love our house, our neighbours and our community.   So I decided I would create the small town feeling that I wanted right here in my own community.

Here is how it all started.  I decided I needed more friends and invited a few women to breakfast.   We had a good time and decided to meet again the following month.  A couple of the ladies asked if they could bring a friend.  I said sure.  At our second meeting we scheduled a date for the following month.  Again people asked if they could bring friends & I said, “Sure.”  This is continued to go on month after month and it has been wonderful!  I now have lots of friends in Richmond Hill and together we have made our Town a better place to live, work and play.  We have achieved this goal by working together.  We have held a number of fundraising event and have supported not-for-profit organizations in our community including:  York Region’s CIBC Run for the Cure, Sandgate Women’s Shelter (Richmond Hill location), ALS and Richmond Hill Hospice.

We now meet twice a month.  Our first meeting is a Planning Meeting which is scheduled for the first Wed. morning of every month.  It is a business meeting where we discuss the details of what we need to do next.  The second meeting is a Social Meeting on the third Wed. evening of each month.  It is very informal and I describe it as a cocktail parties without the martinis.  Details of our upcoming FREE meetings can be found at www.richmondhillwomen.com.

I encourage you join us.  After all, I need more friends.  I alway say, “Friends are like chocolate–you can never have too much chocolate or too many friends.”  :)

Professional

Hi!

Have you ever seen a true professional at work?  What is remarkable is they make what ever they do seem effortless.  No doubt when we are not looking they practise for hours on end and perfect their craft.

Congratulations to everyone that invests countless hours to master their craft.  It is only by making small improvements on a regular basis that one actually gets better.   This is the underlying principle of the Six Sigma approach.

Tonight I had the pleasure of attending an Elvis Tribute event & my Elvis (well, he’s not really mine, but let’s pretend), Tim ‘E’ was performing.  He is a true professional.  He has taken the time to master each of Elvis’ gestures and sings Elvis’ songs perfectly.

Have to mention there was a woman sitting beside me who must have been 70 years old & she was having the time of her life.  She touched the Elvi, kissed them, screamed like a teenager & even gave several of them a lei.  Had she not been married she would have no doubt invited one home with her.  It was so much fun to be sitting beside her & screaming together.  Don’t think any one else in the audience had as much fun as we did.

Do something fun today!  You’ll enjoy life more.

All the best!

The Ultimate Elvis Experience

Sponsorship Package_Tim looking right_IMG_7537

Sponsorship Package_Tim looking right_IMG_7537Hi!

Haven’t written in a while.  I’ve been busy organizing a fundraising event for The CIBC Run for the Cure (Breast Cancer).   I’m a HUGE Elvis fan & decided to have an Elvis concert featuring Tim ‘E’ and the Yes Men.  The date of the event is Wed., July 28th, 2010 at The Richmond Hill Centre for the Performing Arts.  The venue seats 631.  I only need to sell 625 seats because I’ll need six tickets for myself & my family.  It’s going to be a fabulous show!!!

It is an absolute pleasure working with Tim.  He has been so helpful in terms of guiding me through the process of putting together the event.  Not only does he look, sound and move like Elvis he is just as charming.   Today when I was speaking with him he was quoting part of his show & spoke in Elvis’ voice/accent.  It was so distracting–I couldn’t even remember what we were talking about.   It’s the Ultimate Elvis Experience for me to be working with Tim & it will be The Ultimate Elvis Experience if you attend the BIG show.   I guarantee you will not be disappointed.

I’m just finalizing my contract with the theatre so tickets are NOT yet on sale.   The Theatre Manager, Michael Grit sent a copy of the contract today & it’s the size of War & Peace.  Finally got through it & have a million questions.   Good thing Michael’s so patient with me.

Will let you know when they become available.  Appreciate if you could help spread the word about the event.  It’s such a great cause & the show is superb.  Tim has an eleven piece orchestra that backs him up.

Would you be able to e-mail your friends that live in the Toronto area & let them know about the concert?  Could you display our posters in your workplace?  Could you buy tickets to the show?  They will be priced at $37.50 for the show & if you decide to attend The Ultimate Vegas Party the ticket price is $100.00 (show included).  The Ultimate Vegas party is going to be so much fun.  We’re having showgirls, popcorn, a chocolate fountain, the Eiffel Tower, a photographer and lots of collateral material on how to participate in The York Region Run for the Cure on Oct. 3rd, 2010.

I’ve attached a picture of Tim as Elvis.  He has amazing stage presence!!!  I anticipate that he will win several Elvis competitions this summer.  One in Collingwood, Ontario and the other in Memphis and every other competition  he enters.

I would LOVE to be his full-time agent.  Think he should focus on doing what he does best–performing & let me take care of everything else.

I better get some beauty sleep.

All the best!

Josephine and Elvis Tribute Artist Wayne Junior

Josephine and Elvis Tribute Artist Wayne JuniorHi!

I just got back from an all day Elvis competition.  I loved the show and met lots of Elvii (that’s the plural for Elvis).

Without a doubt the most impressive competitor was Wayne Junior.  Not only did he look great in his costume and have an incredible voice he did all those boxing type moves from Elvis’ Vegas shows.  At the end of his performance he gave me a beautiful silk scarf embroidered with “Tribute to Elvis.  Wayne Junior.  2010″.    You can see the scarf in the picture.  I’m the one on the left. :)

Can’t wait to see him perform again.

All the best!
